Trophies and Awards
FESTIVAL TROPHIES AND AWARDS
Trophies will be awarded to the outright winner of the class for which the trophy has been presented, provided a category of VG or above has been attained. They are to be held for one year only, and must be returned to the Custodian of Trophies not later than one month before the next Festival. On receiving a trophy, the winner will be expected to sign a receipt and an undertaking to keep it safe and to return it in good condition. Trophies requiring engraving will be available after this work has been done, normally within three weeks of the end of the Festival.
BURSARIES FOR KEYBOARD AND VOCAL CLASSES -
ALEX WATTERS MEMORIAL AWARD
This bursary will be awarded, at the discretion of the adjudicator, to a promising competitor who has performed in two or more solo keyboard classes at 16 and under, 18 and under or Open levels. The award, worth £375 for 2012, is intended for the furtherance of keyboard studies – for example, tuition or purchase of music. The winner will be asked to present a proposal to Council for approval. Previous recipients are not eligible for this award.
RACHEL BARRY MEMORIAL AWARD
This bursary will be awarded, at the discretion of the adjudicator, to a promising competitor of 16 years of age or over who has performed in V41, 42, 48-54 and at least one other class. This may include voice and piano classes, but not Scots Song, Hebridean Song, Folk Song or Light Music. The award, worth £285 for 2012, is intended for the furtherance of vocal studies – for example, tuition or purchase of music. The winner will be asked to present a proposal to Council for approval. Previous recipients are not eligible for this award.

V7 Silver challenge trophy presented for schools with fewer than 250 on the roll.
V8 Trophy presented by Saltire Society for Primary School Choirs in Scots song.
The winner is eligible to enter the national Saltire Society competition.
